16/12/2024

Experts from the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) presented findings from the TRAILS project at the prestigious Cedefop workshop titled “Human-Centred Digital Transitions: Skill Mismatches in European Workplaces.” The event, held in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 12–13 December, brought together leading minds to address critical challenges posed by digital transformation in European labour markets.

At the workshop, Paul Redmond presented insights from Deliverable 3.1 of the TRAILS project in his talk titled: “Educational Mismatch in Europe: Incidence, Determinants and the Impact of Increased Remote Working.” The presentation highlighted key findings on European educational mismatches, their root causes, and how the shift towards remote working has reshaped these dynamics.

Paul also provided an overview of the TRAILS project’s goals and its ongoing research into how labor markets and skill demands are evolving in a rapidly digitizing world. This contribution added significant depth to discussions on how Europe can align educational outcomes with workforce needs in an era increasingly defined by remote work and digital innovation.

The Cedefop workshop showcased state-of-the-art research on the effects of digitalization on skill mismatches across EU labor markets. Using unique data from Cedefop’s second European Skills and Jobs Survey.

The TRAILS project’s participation in this workshop reflects its commitment to shaping evidence-based policies that address skills mismatches and support workers in the digital age. Events like these are instrumental in driving collaborative solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in European labor markets.
