The TRAILS project is spearheading an innovative study on how personalized skill assessments can boost participation in training programs across Europe. By leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning, the project aims to align training opportunities with labour market demands, helping individuals make informed career choices.
With the participation of public authorities and education providers from across Europe, TRAILS is conducting an experimental study in collaboration with key partners:
All the participants are members of EARLALL which is coordinating the study, in close cooperation with DUTH, AUTH, and with SkillLab research team and will be running the final experiment in the summer of 2025.
Understanding the Impact of AI in Training Participation
The study focuses on two key areas: For Public Employment Services (PES), it aims to determine whether personalized skills data can enhance job recommendations and training opportunities, while also exploring how detailed demand and supply data can help better align education with labor market needs. The expected outcomes include a Local Skill Gap Analysis, AI-driven recommendations, and policy insights. For Educational Providers, the study seeks to identify relevant courses for in-demand profiles and map essential skills associated with those courses using AI-driven tools like SkillLab.
The Experiment: AI-Driven Training Recommendations
Starting in summer 2025, unemployed participants will undergo personalized skill assessments, receiving AI-generated training recommendations tailored to their career goals. The project will also involve local training providers, mapping skills in courses to better guide job seekers.
The TRAILS project represents a ground-breaking effort to use AI and big data for smarter, skills-based career planning. Stay tuned for updates as we shape the future of lifelong learning and employment in Europe!
