The University of Naples Federico II will host the Conference on Occupational Mismatch and Skill Shortage on 10–11 September 2026 in Naples, Italy, bringing together leading international researchers and policymakers to discuss one of Europe’s most pressing labour market challenges.
The conference will take place at the Museo Artistico Politecnico (MUSAP), Palazzo Zapata, and will explore the causes, consequences, and policy implications of occupational mismatch and skills shortages in the context of technological transformation, labour market transitions, and demographic change.
Over two days, academics and experts from leading universities, research institutes, central banks, and international organisations will present cutting-edge research on topics including skills mismatch, digital skills, vocational education, labour market mobility, human capital allocation, and the impacts of technological and economic transitions on workers’ careers.
